"Abandoning Hope"
September 2007
Stoneware
For me hope lives out there somewhere, it can be a place you'd like to go, or something you'd like to do, who you'd like to become, and many other wishes for the future. In this sculpture the subtle gesture of the figures hand to her forehead, is a fair well, and a disconnect to hope. She lays there, giving up, which happens when you've abandoned hope.
