The Art of John Pierro
"Unforeseen Obstacles"
August 2007
Stoneware
15"X9"
When I started out doing this series of sculptures I set a goal for myself, with a time line, and then I began to work. Everything goes smooth until it doesn't, and sooner or later it doesn't. One night, after having a day which can only be described as exhaustingly frustrating, the kind of day that makes you question everything your doing, I got a very clear picture of my next sculpture. I figure in mid-stride slamming into an "Unforeseen Obstacle". I guess it was my way of dealing with the frustrating hiccups that life can throw at you, I'm sure that a lot of us can relate to this idea.
