The three small figures at the base of the central figure are hopelessly fawning over something they wish to acquire but have no real hope of ever obtaining. There is a very personal story at the root of the idea for this piece. I too was one of those men at the base of this sculpture. I never expected to be lucky enough or worthy enough to be with a certain truly wonderful woman, who now happens to be my wife. The sculpture helps to remind me how truly lucky I am.
